My question is that if I put the AK data on the network, will I need to acquire 2 licenses to run the software on 2 different PC's? If I do, then what issues would we run into by running the software from the network?
Thank you in advance. |

The Asset Keeper license is a site license. That is, it may be installed on an unlimited number of computers in one office location. Many of our users store their data on the network for access from multiple computers. This is the preferred method of sharing files. _________________ Pro-Ware Technical Support |

Thank you for the information, that will help my client very much. But one other question that I have now that I know it is a site license.
This might a foolish question, but I have never used or opened AK and my client handed me the disk last week and wanted it done, so here it is, Currently the install on a single computer with the data stored locally on the computer. What files or extenstions should like look for when copy the data files to the network for sharing?
Thank you in advance,

An Asset Keeper client file is actually made up of several files with different extenstions. For example, if your filename is MYCOMPANY, than you will have files like MYCOMPANY.A1, MYCOMPANY.A2, ..., MYCOMPANY.A5, MYCOMPANY.FPT, MYCOMPANY.ABZ, etc. Some file extensions may not be present depending on what features of the program you have used. Generally, if you have to move the files, I recommend moving the entire folder that they are stored in. Also, you could use the Backup/Restore option from the FILE menu to create a backup of the file and restore it in the new location, or you could use 'Save As' under options in the FILE menu. The Backup/Restore option is the recommended way of moving a large number of client files and the Save As option is the recommended way of moving a single client file. _________________ Pro-Ware Technical Support |
